Once every two months we publish an update of the Smartphone Best Buy Guide. You can notice that summer is in full swing, because apart from a handful of top models and some midrange devices, not much has arrived. Still, there are enough devices among the newcomers that are so good that they have knocked some recommendations from the previous BBG’s off their throne. In the low-end segment and the lower end of the midrange category, we have received the OPPO A77, Realme 9 Pro, Vivo Y76, Redmi 11 Pro+ and the 5G version of the Samsung Galaxy A13. Furthermore, quite a few devices have fallen in price, as a result of which the Motorola G60s, Samsung Galaxy A22 and Redmi Note 10 have now ended up in the cheapest category. The Samsung Galaxy A53 and Poco X3 Pro are now located in the lower side of the midrange segment.
It has always been busy in the midrange segment, although not much has been added this summer. Some smartphones from the more expensive segment have also fallen in price and devices from the cheaper segment have become more expensive. The Pixel 6a and the Nothing Phone (1) are the newcomers in this category and we have not only tested both devices extensively, but also reviewed them separately.
This time it is mainly the category of the more expensive devices to which most devices have been added. The OPPO Reno8 Pro and OnePlus 10T are in the second most expensive category. In the most expensive group, these are the Sony Xperia 1 IV, Redmagic 7S Pro, ASUS Zenfone 9, Vivo X80 Pro and the foldable smartphones from Samsung, the Fold4 and Flip4.
We have reviewed all devices again and included the price development to determine which smartphones are the most recommended of the moment per category. Some recommendations from the previous BBG return in this BBG, but there has been a shift again and fortunately there are some newcomers who have made it to recommended.
