Workers from several quarries laid down their work on Monday out of dissatisfaction with the lack of compensation for the high fuel costs. The unions said they put a new proposal on the table on Thursday, but received no response, according to union representative Frédéric Lucchetta (FGTB). They now want to continue the strike until management “deigns to make a gesture”.
For its part, management says that relocation allowances in the company are “significantly higher” than the industry standard. She says she remains willing to talk to employees to ensure the future of the business in a very difficult economic context.
The company, the market leader on the Belgian and Dutch markets, has almost 400 employees spread over 20 sites, 18 of which are in Belgium and two in the Netherlands. The company is represented on the Belgian market with the brands CBR, Sagrex and Inter-Beton.
