The Puyenbroeck police zone checked 63 drivers during a control action in the four municipalities. Five driver’s licenses were revoked. A reported person was also arrested.
The police regularly conduct inspections to guarantee road safety as much as possible. At the end of October they checked 63 drivers in Moerbeke, Wachtebeke, Lochristi and Zelzate.
“We have revoked five driver’s licenses,” the police said. “Two drivers drove under the influence of drugs, three people drove under the influence of alcohol.” An official report was also drawn up for driving under the influence of alcohol, one for the use of drugs in traffic and two for drug possession.
The police also checked the on-board documents each time. The inspection resulted in several driver’s license violations, an expired technical inspection and a violation of wearing a seat belt. “One driver did not have valid insurance, so the vehicle had to be towed,” the police said.
During the control operation, the police were also able to arrest a person who had been charged with serious offences. That person was later interrogated.
