LIVE: Popovic on the bench at Cercle, Tolu just in the starting line-up at Racing Genk

A week ago, Racing Genk was still a title candidate, but after two heavy defeats against Club Brugge, fourth place seems to be the highest achievable for Wouter Vrancken and co. Things can pick up again when they visit Cercle.

The Association follows the Limburgers in the standings at four points, and if they win, Racing Genk can definitely beat Cercle out for fourth place. This currently still entitles you to the final against the winner of the Europe Play-offs.

That match can also move up to fifth place, but then Union must win the cup. Cercle Brugge and Racing Genk cannot count on that, which is why fourth place remains the starting point for them.

Cercle Brugge is Racing Genk

In the first leg, Genk was stuck at home with a 1-1 draw against ten men from Cercle Brugge. Tolu scored after 18 minutes, Olaigbe equalized in the 78th minute. Cercle subsequently only took 1 out of 9.

Cercle Brugge suits Racing Genk, although the mutual confrontation ended 1-1 in three of the last four matches. Genk’s last defeat against Cercle dates back to November 2018, when Cercle won 1-2 in Genk.
