In Madrid they are rubbing their hands, because after nine months of absence, Thibaut Courtois is finally ready for duty again. The goalkeeper appeared in the match selection for the first time earlier this week for the cracker against Bayern Munich in the Champions League. Now his big comeback is coming.

In recent weeks, there has been a lot of speculation in the Spanish press about when exactly Courtois would return to action. Ultimately, Saturday’s match against Cadiz was marked for the first minutes of our compatriot, who has missed the entire season so far due to injuries.

Ancelotti confirms Courtois will play

In August, Courtois tore his cruciate ligament during training, which meant he had to recuperate for more than six months. In March he was about to make his comeback, but then suffered a meniscus tear. About six weeks later, however, nothing stands in the way of a return.

On Friday, coach Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that Courtois will be under the bar against Cadiz. “He is doing well. He will play again tomorrow after a long time,” said the Italian. “It is good news for us that he is returning. He is looking forward to it and can teach us something. We are over the moon.”

Not yet in goal against Bayern

In recent days, many have also wondered whether we will see Courtois in action in the Champions League this season. On Wednesday, Real will play its second leg in the semi-final against Bayern, after which a possible final can follow on June 1.

“The only final we have in mind now is Wednesday’s against Bayern. Lunin will play in that,” Ancelotti made it clear. “We’ll see after that.”
