Zulte Waregem was eliminated by Lommel in the Promotion Play-offs and was therefore sentenced to another season in the second division. Coach Vincent Euvrard is very disappointed, who is honest: “We did not achieve our objective.”
“I came to Zulte Waregem to bring the club back to the Jupiler Pro League this season. I have never hidden that. That was the intention of everyone: staff and players. If you don’t achieve that, then That’s a disappointment,” says Vincent Euvrard.
“On the other hand, I have seen this group grow in a certain process. I am convinced that foundations have been laid that can ensure success in the future. But now I look back with disappointment because we did not achieve our goal. That goal was to be promoted this season.”
Injury burden was a factor in not achieving the promotion
The coach of Zulte Waregem mentions the many injuries. “It’s not that we have only done bad things. We have had quite a bit of injury problems since January and that has played a big role. There have been five to seven players out all the time and that has certainly been a factor in not achieving the promotion.”
“Otherwise, our last few weeks were very good, very stable. We were certainly stable defensively. I am certainly satisfied with that growth process.”
“It’s a shame that we are not promoted now. Every season that you are in the second division it is difficult to survive. That is no secret. Only there is a process that you have to respect.”
