Thibau Nys made quite an impression this week with his stage victory in the Tour de Romandie. Eli Iserbyt also has words of praise for his competitor in the field.
Eli Iserbyt also followed the antics of Thibau Nys in Switzerland and he was clearly impressed by what his competitor showed. He also sees a big difference between Thibau and his father Sven.
“Sven was a better cross rider than Thibau, but Thibau will become a much better road rider. He is also not fils à papa . He wants to make his own path. He actually wants to do even better than his father,” said Het Nieuwsblad.
There is a clear fire burning in junior Nys. “Like: ‘I’m going to show you what you couldn’t do before.’ Cheers, eh. Sven knew that it only had to happen in cross country. Like me. Thibau is taking a completely different path.”
Better climber than Philippe Gilbert
Nys may be an opponent of Eli Iserbyt, but the two clearly get along well, as the West Flemish confirms. “You don’t have that much. I think he can win a semi-classic very quickly.”
