Jürgen Klopp’s farewell to Liverpool seems to be gradually turning into a minor one. The Reds already lost in the quarter-final of the Europa League against Atalanta and now they also seem to be in danger of winning the Premier League title. After a one in six against Everton and West Ham, the gap with Arsenal and Manchester City threatens to widen further.

On Saturday, Liverpool did not get further than a disappointing 2-2 at West Ham, after throwing away a lead in the final fifteen minutes. Moreover, there was also an argument on the sidelines between Klopp and star player Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian had to sit on the bench for the second time in three games. Only ten minutes before the end did Klopp bring him into the fray. Salah was ready to come on when the score was 2-2 and then there was a very heated argument with his trainer.

So there seems to be noise on the line at Liverpool. Salah also added fuel to the fire afterwards. When he was accosted by reporters in the mixed zone, he delivered a mysterious quote. “If I say something now, the room will be on fire,” he declared.

That was somewhat to the surprise of Klopp, who thought the incident had been cleared up. “We talked about it in the dressing room and that’s the end of it for me. That’s all,” he said. “My impression was that it was also cleared up for him.”

Klopp’s last three games at Liverpool threaten to take place in a grim atmosphere. It will not be the farewell he dreamed of, that much is already certain.
