The RMI warns of bad weather on Sunday. The FPS Home Affairs temporarily activates the emergency number 1722.

A depression core will move north along the English east coast on Sunday, the RMI reports. As a result, strong winds are coming our way from the south and southwest. “Inland, the wind will be quite strong on Sunday (5-6 Beaufort) with gusts of 65 to 75 kilometers per hour,” it said. At sea the wind is expected to be strong to very strong (6-7 Beaufort), with gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour.

As a precaution, the FPS Home Affairs is temporarily activating the number 1722. Anyone who has suffered storm or water damage that requires assistance from the fire brigade can submit a request via the e-counter www.1722.be or call 1722. 112 may only be called for potentially life-threatening situations.

Furthermore, clear skies and cloud fields will alternate on Sunday, with a shower here and there. “A more pronounced squall line is likely to develop over the central part of the country by evening.” According to the RMI, there may be some showers on Sunday evening, especially in the central part of the country. Afterwards it will be largely dry with broad clear spells. The wind decreases to weak to moderate and gradually shrinks south to southeast. The minimums are between 4 and 8 degrees. Towards the end of the night some mist or fog may form locally.
