Welcome to Episode 155 of Nerd Culture where we have in-depth reviews of X-Men ’97, Kong X Godzilla, and Fallout this week. We look ahead to classic cinema visits such as Alien from 1979 and Star Wars The Phantom Menace from 1999. We also have trailers from Jim Henson, Deadpool & Wolverine and of course Jelle’s own Una Volta.

Fallout Review & Preview (Spoilers)

We absolutely have to talk about Amazon Prime’s Fallout this week because both Jelle and Koos have now seen the series in its entirety and still have plenty to say about it. We warn in advance that spoilers for the series will be discussed, although we will indicate this well in advance. It will not be an extreme statement to say that the Fallout series has turned out better for everyone than we could have imagined in advance and we are therefore very curious to see what season two will bring us. We have a number of theories about what the future will bring us that we would like to discuss and then give our absolute final verdict in the Fallout review.

Does X-Men ’97 live up to the hype?

It is no longer a secret that we at Nerd Culture are more enthusiastic about the Marvel Animation logo than its live action counterpart. We have of course already seen a number of animation gems, including Sony’s Spider-Verse films and Marvel’s What If…?, but X-Men ’97 was a bomb right from the start. However, the opinions at the table have become further apart with each episode. For Jelle, the level of awesomeness decreases while Koos is really enjoying it. What do you think of the Marvel Animation outings so far? Let us know in the comments! For those who are still hyped, Xbox is releasing an X-Men ’97 Xbox and controllers.

Deadpool & Wolverine

If there is another Marvel live action film that we are really looking forward to, it is the team-up of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in Deadpool & Wolverine. This week the second major official trailer was dropped and it was not exactly appreciated by the gentlemen at the table. Will it have too little to do with the MCU? Are they giving away too much in the trailer at Marvel Studios? Or is there something else going on? Anyway, in principle we don’t have to wait very long, Deadpool & Wolverine can be seen in cinemas on July 24. Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld has already announced that the post-credit scene will certainly be ‘mind-blowing’. Where have we heard that before?
