For Ampe and her more than 350 other party candidates, the ambition for the elections on June 9 is high. “For You aims for 7 percent of the votes,” Ampe announced in her first election conference. She also went over the party’s election manifesto, which included strengthening purchasing power, reducing the debt burden, and tackling particracy and migration problems. Ampe also advocates downsizing government institutions and believes that the nitrogen decree should be revised.

We are reducing cabinets by 75 percent and parliaments by a third.” She also believes that the regions, especially Brussels and Wallonia, should contribute more. “The era of relying on others must end. No more money going to bottomless pits. Cities such as Antwerp, Ghent or Mechelen no longer have to supplement their finances with money from other Flemish cities. That is why Voor U advocates the Swiss model: every government must have its budget in order,” Ampe told VRTnws.
