Just after Tyson Kouraichi (21) restarted the Vooruit Hove department, he is on the electoral list for the Flemish Parliament as the party’s youngest candidate in the province of Antwerp. Young people, housing and education are important themes.

Kouraichi made Vooruit in Hove active again when he was twenty. At the Flemish political level, he is in eleventh place at Vooruit. “As a young guy who is active in youth work, I know what is going on. For many young people, things that used to be normal are gradually no longer so. Finding an affordable first home, for example.”

He also focuses on education. “The Flemish government is unable to turn the tanker in the right direction. The quality must increase and we urgently need to make the teaching profession more attractive.”

Finally, Kouraichi believes that the voice of young people should be heard in politics. “We are facing elections in which 800,000 young people will vote for the first time. So it is important to make the voices of these young people heard.”

In Hove, Vooruit has formed the Hove Beweegt party with Groen and independents since 1994. Kouraichi is in third place for the municipal elections. (fisp)
