In the Netflix hit we see how the character Donny Dunn has been stalked for years by a certain Martha. She bombards him with tens of thousands of emails and hundreds of hours of voicemails. The story is said to be based on the personal experiences of the actor who plays Donny Dunn, comedian Richard Gadd.

Now the ‘real’ Martha makes herself known. In an interview on YouTube, Fiona Harvey claims to be the woman on whom ‘Baby Reindeer’ is based. However, according to her, there is nothing wrong with the series. “What he tells is pure fiction,” she says. “Only two things are true: his name is Richard Gadd and he worked as a bartender. We only met two or three times.” According to the woman, there was never any question of stalking.

In his own words, Harvey had no choice but to come forward. Fans of the series are fanatically searching for Martha’s true identity. “The inconvenience is enormous,” it sounds. “I haven’t even seen the series itself. I don’t want that either, it already has enough influence on my life. But I constantly get phone calls with death threats, they know where to find me everywhere.”

Harvey plans to file a lawsuit against both Netflix and Gadd. “I’m really tired of all the drama. It is very damaging to my reputation, and to my own career.”

Gadd himself claims that it is “all 100% true.” He did call on his fans on Instagram last month to stop the search for Martha’s true identity. “That is not the intention of our series.”
